Spring Weather Guide — What to Expect Worldwide

June 9, 2026

What Is Spring?

Spring is the transitional season between winter and summer. In the Northern Hemisphere, it runs roughly from March to May. In the Southern Hemisphere, it is September to November. But spring does not look the same everywhere.

Spring by Region

Europe

Temperatures rise from 5-10°C in March to 15-22°C by May. Rain is common, especially in April. Days lengthen rapidly. Cherry blossoms peak in March-April.

North America

Highly variable. The southern US is warm by March, while the northern states may still see snow into April. Tornado season peaks in the Great Plains.

East Asia

Cherry blossom season sweeps from south to north: Tokyo in late March, Seoul in mid-April. Monsoon humidity has not yet arrived, making spring the ideal travel season.

Southern Hemisphere

Spring means September-November. Australian wildflowers bloom, New Zealand lambing season starts, and South American Andes become hikeable.

Spring Weather Characteristics
