Singapore Weather — The Short Version
Singapore sits 1° north of the equator, and its weather reflects that. It's hot and humid all year round. There are no four seasons here — just two: wet and slightly less wet. The average temperature barely moves between months, hovering around 31°C during the day and 24°C at night. What changes is how much rain falls.

The Two Seasons
Northeast Monsoon (November–March)
This is Singapore's wettest period. December and January are particularly drenched, with rainfall exceeding 230mm monthly. Showers tend to hit in the afternoon — sudden, heavy downpours that last 30–60 minutes and then vanish. Mornings are usually fine.
Temperature dips very slightly during these months, with highs around 30°C instead of 32°C. For Singapore, that's practically a cold front.
Southwest Monsoon (June–September)
Drier than the northeast monsoon, but "dry" is relative. You still get 13–14 rain days per month. The main difference is that rain events tend to be shorter and less intense. June through August are the closest thing to a "dry season" — but you'll still want that umbrella.
Humidity — The Real Story
Singapore's relative humidity averages 84% annually. It rarely drops below 70%, even on the driest days. This means 31°C often feels like 37–40°C. If you're from a dry climate, this hits hard. The UV index typically ranges from 7–12 (high to extreme), so sunscreen is non-negotiable.
Best Months to Visit
February and June–August are your best bets. February has the fewest rain days (11) and slightly more sunshine. June through August form the driest stretch, with rainfall around 158–175mm. That said, no month in Singapore is truly "dry," so packing a compact umbrella is standard procedure regardless of when you arrive.
What to Wear
Cotton and linen are your friends. Synthetic performance fabrics that wick moisture work too. Skip jeans — they'll feel like wearing a blanket. Light shorts, breathable t-shirts, and sandals are daily wear for most residents. Bring one light long-sleeve layer for aggressively air-conditioned malls and MRT trains (they keep interiors around 22–24°C, and the temperature swing from outdoor to indoor can feel jarring).
Indoor Escape Plan
When the afternoon downpour hits — and it will — Singapore's indoor options are world-class. Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay's Cloud Forest dome (kept at a cool 23°C), Jewel Changi Airport, and the island's massive network of air-conditioned malls mean you're never more than a few minutes from shelter.
The Bottom Line
Singapore is warm, humid, and rainy year-round. Don't wait for "perfect weather" — it doesn't exist here. Instead, plan outdoor activities for the morning, expect a downpour after 2 PM, and enjoy the fact that everything clears up quickly.
